To provide adequate knowledge and continue to develop the talents of young swimmers from different swimming clubs of the Swim League Philippines, SLP launched a significant program featuring participation in 15 invitational tournaments abroad this year.

According to SLP president Fred Galang, a total of 75 swimming tournaments are lined up in Manila and provinces across the country as the association’s contribution to the program promoted by the Philippine Aquatics, Inc. (PAI) – the country’s sole National Swimming Association sanctioned by World Aquatics — to increase the level of competitiveness and quality at the grassroots level and select elite athletes to be included in the Philippine Team for future competition abroad.

“We’re proud to say that several SLP swimmers managed to compete in the PAI selection meet and qualified for the National Team for the coming Asian Age Group championships this February. We will continue to fulfill our duty to contribute to our National Association (PAI),” said Ancheta.

Aside from the 75 competitions, SLP also conducts Coaches Seminars, Officiating Seminars, and the Drown Free Philippines Initiative.

“The program is also complete to host Open Water meet, Fin Swimming, and other Aquatic Sports to be introduced to the community and expand the source of talent available for the National Team,” he said.

On the competition abroad, Ancheta asserted that there are agreements signed by the SLP with swimming clubs and institutions abroad so that young athletes can participate and increase their experiences that will help improve their skills.

“Our battle cry is United We Swim. And in pursuit of greater purpose and excellence, we will continue to collaborate and participate in promoting a meaningful program for the development of Philippine swimming,” according to Ancheta.

To begin with,  the SLP will be conducted in collaboration with the Solid Swimming Coaches Association of the Philippines (SSCAP) and the Central Northern Luzon CAR Swimming Coaches Association (CNLCSCA), in support of the host Wave Movers Swimming Team and Manaloto Golden Sharks Swim Team and ‘First Plunge’ meet on Saturday (January 13) at the Ayala Vermosa Sports Hub in Cavite.
