Recognizing its economic impact, Clark Development Corporation (CDC) has backed President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ‘s call for an “extensive study” on constructing a long-term impounding system in Candaba, Pampanga, addressing recurring flooding issues. The proposal, discussed with Pampanga officials on August 7, involves a large water collection pool.

Atty. Agnes VST Devanadera, CDC president and CEO, urged Metro Pacific Tollways (MPTC) CEO Rogelio Singson to address flooding and traffic congestion on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), a subsidiary of MPTC.

Meanwhile, Atty. Devanadera thanked Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista for his prompt response about NLEX traffic conditions and measures taken during peak congestion.

Amid cancellations, scheduling disruptions, and delays in Clark, she highlighted the need for effective collaboration.

Former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Singson, who proposed the project in 2013, addressing Central Luzon’s flooding concerns, participated in the briefing.

Concerns arise from local officials about the potential impact on 9,000 Candaba residents, emphasizing the original DPWH proposal’s lack of support for affected families.

Singson’s proposal involves acquiring 200 hectares (10% of the 2,000-hectare Candaba land) for a water impounding area to mitigate flooding in low-lying regions.

Due to NLEX traffic, the CDC postponed the “Power of Choice” solar talk and exhibit initially set for August 8, given its effects on Manila participants. A new date will be announced.

Clark Freeport Zone hosts 1,136 locators, employing 127,074. Robust resilience, strategic positioning, and top-tier infrastructure create a secure business environment.
