Mojdeh leads Brent International School-Manila with 2 gold medals in APAC swim championships

MULTI-titled junior swimmer Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh capped Brent International School Manila campaign with a second gold medal at the closed of Asia Pacific Activities Conference (APAC) Swimming Championships over the weekend at the Seoul Foreign School swimming pool in South Korea.

The 16-year-old Filipino-Iranian dubbed ‘Water Beast’ overwhelmed her two rivals from Hong Kong International School, submitting timed of one minute and 4.17 seconds in the girls 100m-butterfly. Andrey Sandeen clocked (1:06.55) for silver while his teammate Aidon Chow claimed the bronze at 1:08.00.

Mojdeh, the first Pinay in the millennial year to make it to the semifinals of the World Junior Championship last year in Lima, Pero, claimed her first gold medal in the girls’ 200m individual medley (2:22.05) on the opening day.

She was also part of the girls’ team along with Kirsten Tan, Jira Hedeager and Natalie Javier that placed third in the girls 200m medley before capturing another bronze medal in the individual girls’ 100m freestyle (1:00.90).

“I’m just happy winning the gold and at the same time improving my personal best in all of my three individual events here in South Korea. It was a great campaign here,” said Mojdeh, junior record holder and Palarong Pambansa standout.

Tan claimed her second bronze finishing third in the girls’ 50 backstroke (33.73) behind eventual champion Jenny Ra of Chadwick International Varsity’s (CIV) (32.44) and Anges Yu of HKIS (33.00).

The boys squad composed of Ethan Waskiewicz, Connor Hodges, Yuan Wang and Ethan Hodges gave Brent another bronze in the boys’ 200m freestyle relay, clocking one minute and 47.90 against Seoul Foreign High School — Alex Yeum, Dohyun Kim, Chirstian Lee and Daniel Lee (1:45.24) and CIV tankers Ian Park, Kyle Chung, Justin Jin and Jude Kim (1:45.62).
