On June 18, hundreds of locally stranded individuals (LSIs) have been given the opportunity to return to Albay, as a result of the Office of Vice President Leni Robredo’s continued cooperation with the provincial government.

Proper protocols were followed in facilitating the LSIs paperworks such as requiring documents such as medical certificates and authorization from the local government of their home.

VP Leni’s camp also carried out disinfection procedures and temperature checks on each passenger before they were taken on buses. They also made sure to give LSIs something to eat along their trip.

“This initiative is vital to our cooperation with LGUs as we want to make sure that the return of our fellow citizens is in accordance with the policies of their local government.
Once again, we are deeply grateful to the Albay Provincial Government, led by Gov. Al Francis Bichara; at the Redemptorist Church – National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help; and our other service partners,” said the statement posted on VP Leni Facebook page.
More than 700 LSIs were given aid this week as a result of VP Leni’s office’s continued cooperation with various local governments.

“Our stranded countrymen were relieved to finally be able to return to their respective provinces. Most of the ones we helped spend a few weeks in temporary shelters like Baclaran Church. Among the hundreds of assistance we have received in recent weeks are our fellow countrymen who are desperate to find a way home: your miles traveled, the homeless available for rent, and the Their anxious families are eager to be with them in the midst of this crisis,” the page said on its status on Saturday.

On Friday, about 146 of stranded neighborhoods in Metro Manila were able to return to their homes in their respective provinces, aboard five buses from the OVP. These include Sorsogon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, and Masbate.
The other day, 584 LSIs traveled back to their hometowns of Albay.

Each passenger also undergoes disinfection procedures and a temperature check before boarding the buses with hot meals amd lunch provided for LSIs.
