The facility aims to showcase the benefits and use cases of liquid cooling technology to local enterprises.
ST Telemedia Global Data Centres Philippines (STT GDC), in collaboration with Vertiv (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, Dell Technologies, and Novare Technologies Inc., today unveiled the first liquid cooling technology showroom in the country. Housed at the STT GDC Philippines’ headquarters in Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City, this modern facility aims to showcase the latest in direct-to-chip cooling technology to efficiently and responsibly cool today’s high-density servers amidst the growth of AI and high-performance computing (HPC).
Called the AI Synergy Lab, the showroom is a testament to STT GDC Philippines’ commitment to supporting the continued growth of the data center industry in the country, as many enterprises embrace digital transformation and deploy advanced computing in their critical facilities. The showroom features a Dell PowerEdge server designed to support GPU intensive applications, cooled by Vertiv’s direct-to-chip liquid cooling technology, the Vertiv™ Liebert® XDU100 coolant distribution units (CDU).
“At STT GDC Philippines, we’re not just prepared for the future – we’re actively shaping it. This collaboration with Vertiv, Dell Technologies, and Novare to jointly bring a liquid cooling solution for AI workloads to the market demonstrates our readiness, not just for the future, but right now. The AI-readiness of our purpose-built facilities reflects a deep understanding of the unique infrastructure demands of our clients, from hyperscalers to cutting-edge AI companies, positioning us to support both their current and future needs while staying true to our commitment to sustainability. This showcase allows customers to experience and gain firsthand insight into the power of our infrastructure, enabling them to optimize their investment decisions before committing their own capital expenditure,” said Carlo Malana, President and CEO of STT GDC Philippines.
While air-cooling has traditionally been used to cool data centers and servers, liquid cooling is becoming a viable alternative, especially for high-density and high-performance servers. By leveraging the higher thermal transfer properties of water or other fluids, liquid cooling technology offers a significant reduction in cooling energy, significantly improving power usage effectiveness (PUE) of a facility. In a typical application of AI servers in a data center, about 80% of the heat is removed by liquid cooling of the servers, while air cooling removes the remaining 20% of heat generated in the room.
The Liebert® XDU100 is Vertiv’s innovative cooling solution that allows customers to easily and cost-effectively tap into the advantages of liquid cooling without the need to redesign or replumb the existing air-cooled environment. With its row-based format, it removes the traditional barriers to liquid cooling, giving a cost-effective means for deploying water-cooled servers to support advanced applications and higher rack densities.
“In today’s fast-evolving world of data centers and computing, effective and efficient management of heat loads is more critical than ever. We are seeing a move towards more innovative thermal management technologies to better manage higher power densities and liquid cooling is one of them. Vertiv is at the forefront in supporting our customers in their liquid cooling deployments and we congratulate our partners, STT GDC, Dell Technologies, and Novare in this initiative to educate our customers on the advantages and benefits of liquid cooling technology for the Philippine market,” said Hitesh Prajapati, vice president of Southeast Asia at Vertiv.
At the AI Synergy Lab, visitors can see firsthand the Dell servers and Vertiv CDU at work, giving them a deeper understanding of liquid cooling technology, including its benefits. The solution also serves as a test case for those interested in deploying the technology within their own applications.
“The unveiling of the Philippines’ first liquid cooling showroom is more than an industry milestone—it’s a testament to the power of innovation and collaboration. At Novare, we’re proud to stand alongside STT GDC, Dell Technologies, and Vertiv to redefine what’s possible in data center technology. Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) is not just about superior performance; it’s about creating sustainable, future-ready solutions that will shape the digital landscape for generations to come,” said Victor M. Silvino, chief executive officer of Novare.
“We’re thrilled to unveil the first liquid cooling showroom in the Philippines, a testament to our commitment to innovation and cutting-edge technology,” said Grainger Wallis, senior vice president and managing director, South Asia and Emerging Markets, Dell Technologies. “This facility showcases Dell’s high-performance PowerEdge servers and underscores the importance of sustainable, efficient technological advancements. Together with STT GDC Philippines, Vertiv and Novare we’re excited to empower local enterprises to excel in the era of AI and high performance computing.”
