Smart warns netizens of fake pop-up ads

In a public advisory released by Smart Communications on Friday night (June 19), it reminded the people of a fake pop-up advertisments circulating over the internet supposedly coming from the brand.

“We have received reports regarding a fake Smart pop up ad that requires customers to pay a minimal amount in exchange for an instant smartphone prize. Please be warned that this is NOT an official Smart promo–Smart Communications, Inc. DOES NOT ask for money or any form of payment in exchange for prizes and giveaways,” the official statement said.

“Kindly report such incidents to our hotline by dialing *888 on your Smart mobile phone or by sending us a message via our official social media accounts facebook.com/SmartCommunications and twitter.com/livesmart.”

There are a gazillion of fake advertisement online and it increased during rhe pandemic. Folks, these are scams. If it’s too much too good to be true, it’s always a scam.

Report any suspicious advertisement activites that you see online. Don’t get yourself scammed.
