Independence Day celebration for this year will be different as restrictive measures are imposed to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Taking new approach to Independence Day, malls in Bulacan have expanded its efforts with #SupportLocalAtSM campaign to encourage shoppers to buy local as a way of helping businesses, especially Filipino brands and homegrown Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), who have been greatly affected by the pandemic. This campaign is rolled out all throughout the month to help shoppers find, discover, and support MSMEs and local businesses in the malls.
SM Affiliates as well as tenants took part in the campaign by highlighting their Philippine made products, goods as well as services to encourage patronization among the locals.

SM Bulacan Malls have also introduced a number of initiatives to assist local businesses and to help MSMEs generate revenue during community quarantine period, including tapping of local delivery and errand services such as Pabili-Bulacan, Ride Eat, Pa Suyo Po and Cartel De Marilao as well as JoyRide and Bulacan 3 wheels on-the-go.
Apart from the #SupportLocalAtSM campaign, SM Bulacan Malls is also keeping up with the changing times as it launch its first ever virtual concert. Shoppers can celebrate Independence Day, rock n’ roll at the convenience of their homes and watch Pinoy rock icon Bamboo on June 20 at 8pm via ZOOM. Fans can get a chance to win an exclusive pass for every single receipt purchase of P500 from June 10-14.

“As we transition to the new lifestyle, our typical celebrations are not possible. SM Supermalls are looking for a different means to celebrate Independence Day in a responsible way” shares SM City San Del Monte Mall Manager Jose Mari Emmanuel Correa.
Observing the new normal, SM Bulacan Malls in Marilao, San Jose Del Monte, Baliwag and Pulilan also paid tribute to past and modern day heroes as it commemorate the 122nd Philippine Independence Day.
“Independence Day takes on a greater meaning this 2020” says SM City Marilao Mall Manager Emmanuel Gatmaitan. “SM salutes the bravery of our frontliners and honors all health workers, soldiers, policemen, and employees at groceries, stores, and volunteers who continue to serve the public in this time of crisis” Gatmaitan added.
