Skyway Stage 3 toll fee to remain free until further notice

Skyway Stage 3 toll fee to remain free until further notice

Looks like motorists (including us) who tried the newly opened Skyway Stage 3 will be glad to know that the new elevated expressway will remain toll fee free, even after February 1. This new announcement came from Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) spokesperson Julius Corpuz who said that the use of Skyway Stage 3 will remain free until the TRB can finalize the toll rates for the expressway.

“TRB has not yet issued its approval to authorize toll collection for Skyway Stage 3. Their petition is still in process and the review and validation is ongoing,” said Corpuz.

It’s a good news for now.

As one of the many motorists who have experienced the ease, convenient, and faster way of going to another destination via the Skyway Stage 3, we are happy that we’ll still enjoy using this expressway for free.

Lately, everyone has been concerned of the official toll fees that will be imposed once the trial stage for the use of Skyway Stage 3 expires. The proposed toll for the entire stretch of the newly opened expressway may reach up to P274 for Class 1 vehicles, based on the petition submitted by San Miguel Corporation (SMC). SMC asked TRB to approve its proposed fees in a 21-page petition dated January 8.

If this will be final, those coming from the north will have to ready a P274 if they’ll be exiting in Buendia, Makati. And for those coming out the Quezon Avenue exit will have to pay P133, based on the proposed toll matrix.

If we’re to be asked, we find the rates manageable. It’s not extravagant but of course, it will still be a lot for many motorists. But if you’ll compare the ease of travelling and the time you’ll be able to save, these toll fee rates looks standard.

In our experience, our travel time from NLEX-Balintawak to Buenida took us 16 to 17 minutes. Not bad. It’s not really bad. Imagine if you’re going to Makati and you’ll be using EDSA hi-way, you’ll feel a lot of the difference. You can also use the Skyway Stage 3 if you’re going all the way to Taguig or Alabang.

Also, we tried exiting Quezon Avenue on a different date and we clocked it at 6 minutes!

Are we going to use the Skyway Stage 3 even if the toll fee rate starts? Probably, we will.
