Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon has been found dead after reported missing, Yonhap news agency reported to police early Friday, July 10.
Park was reportedly facing allegations of sexual misconduct.
His daughter reported Park missing on Thursday, July 9, police said earlier, adding that he had left his house after saying what sounded like “last words.”
Park’s body was discovered in hills in northern Seoul early Friday, more than seven hours after local authorities launched a massive search for him.
His daughter called police on Thursday afternoon and said her father had given her “a will-like” verbal message before leaving their home hours earlier. She said she decided to contact authorities because she couldn’t reach her father on the phone.
Park is known as the People’s Champ and long seen as a potential South Korean presidential candidate.
