The COVID-19 cases in the country continues to go up by the numbers and vaccine supplies are not sufficient enough to accommodate the national government’s need for the administration of vaccination in the country.
Thanks to the first batch of vaccines that were already shipped and are now being used by different LGUs for frontliners and senior citizens who are on top of the priority list to register for vaccine jabs.
But aside from vaccines, the need for antibiotics and other drugs to treat COVID-19 patients have also issues, particularly in securing certificates from the Department of Health (DOH) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Raffy Tulfo came forward in his Raffy Tulfo In Action YouTube channel to call out DOH chief Francisco Duque III and FDA director Eric Domingo on irregularities that the fearless commentarist/TV and radio host uncovered based on documents that he presented on air.
Tulfo hits DOH and FDA for blocking the permits of Lianhua Qingwen, a medicine that treats cases with fever, sore throat, cough, stuffy or runny nose, aversion to cold, muscle soreness, headache, wheezing—symptoms present in COVID-19 and ivermectin, claimed to be a drug that has a potential to treat the virus.
Whilst Lianhua got the greenlight and is now available in drugstores and some retailers nationwide, ivermectin still has some clinical tests to prove that it is efficient in treating COVID-19.
Tulfo hits Duque and Domingo for their questionable decisions in holding off these two medications to enter the market while they allow other expensive medicines to be used for COVID-19 patients. Tulfo expresses dismay over the fact that these expensive medicines are anti-poor unlike Lianhua and ivermectin which are sold for only P25 and P35 per capsule, respectively.
Tulfo slammed both doctors and asked them to resign if they really want to help the administration fight against the pandemic.
There are other issues that Tulfo talked about in his RTIA program pointing at the alleged ‘incompetence’ of DOH and FDA.
And to make sure you’re safe while you’re in public, don’t forget to wear your face shield and face mask.
