THE Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) announced that 16 teams representing 16 provinces will made up the participants in its yearend PVF-Tanduay Athletics Inter-Province Girls U18 Volleyball Championship slated December 10 to 18 at the Tanduay Athletics Volleyball Center in Taguig City.

PVF president Edgardo ‘Tito Boy’ Cantada said he decided to expand the number of participants from the original eight teams due to the event’s growing popularity and demand from public high schools and local government units in the provinces.

“All participating teams will be billeted at the Tanduay Athletics Volleyball Center (Cantada Sports Center) — fast becoming the recognized volleyball haven of the age-group volleyball players because of its firs-class facilities boasting of two Taraflex vinyl covered indoor volleyball courts and two beach volleyball courts with the only indoor sand court in the country.  There are no entry fees.  Everything is free as soon as you enter our facility.  This is PVF’s way of providing equal opportunities as we welcome everyone from all walks of life.  We encourage our brothers and sisters among the Indigenous People.  You will be treated well, just like anybody else,” said Cantada.

“The sixteen teams will be broken down into two groups of eight teams each.  Each group will play a single-round robin eliminations on a two-day live-in schedule on two different (consecutive) weekends.  Champion and 1st Runner-Up teams of the first group will play for the championship and third place against the champion and 1st Runner-up of the second group of the second weekend,” Cantada added.

“The numerous volleyball players who have come and savored the hospitality of the PVF in its events have brought home fond memories of their experience in this volleyball haven.  We continue to enjoy the overflowing praises. This is what grassroots  development should be — service above self and never for personal gain.

“We have bent the rules somewhat. Representation of a province could be by way of a school, a town or city in the province being represented provided they go through an elimination process like an ODL or any method in determining the strongest representation,” said Cantada.

All interested parties should register their intent to EDGARDO CANTADA thru Messenger.  The schedule of games are December 10 & 11 for Group I and December 17 & 18 for Group II.  Deadline for the registration of intent will be on November 5.  By that time, we expect you to have determined how you would come up with your representation.

For age eligibility:  all players should only turn 18 on December 19, 2022, Minimum age requirement is 13 years old.
