What. The. Hell?!
This could be the unanimous reaction of the netizens when the Tarlac murder suspect Police Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca pleaded ‘not guilty’ to murder charges during the arraignment and pre-trial conducted last January 7.
Nuezca was caught on video fatally shooting his neighbors Sonya Gregorio and her son Frank Anthony during a heated argument because of ‘boga’ in Paniqui, Tarlac in December, 5 days before Christmas, in front of his daughter in broad daylight.
Sonya and Frank died after the incident while Nuezca surrendered to the Rosales police station in Pangasinan province, around 45 minutes away from his home in Barangay Cabayaoasan, Paniqui, a few hours after the crime.
Nuezca is not a stranger to administrative cases. Before the Tarlac murder, Nuezca had at least 6 administrative cases prior to the Tarlac murder and has been charged with two counts of murder.
Nuezca was represented by Atty. Rolando Gragasin of the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO)-Paniqui as counsel, with the next hearing on the matter scheduled on February 4, 2021.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is under fire from public scrutiny because of the seemingly different treatment of the Gregorio vs Nuezca case compared to the Christine Dacera investigation. The public react to the almost fast pace investigation of Dacera while the case of the Gregorios is taking too long to arrive with a court decision to convict Nuezca.
