It was jampacked and full of exciting discussions from cybersecurity to digitizing workforce in a remote work environment in world where pandemic is happening in our very eyes. The lobby was a giant virtual playground with different sponsors and exhibitors joining for this annual convention.

This year’s overall theme is “IMPACT” as the group aims to inspire attendees to adopt innovations and technologies for positive transformation.

PH Digicon, now on its sixth year, conducted on virtual event spaces for the first time from October 28 to 30, 2020 and is open to the public. PH Digicon 2020 have global industry mavens, thought leaders, and pioneers in technology congregate to push technological enablement among enterprises throughout the country and region.

One of the most awaited appearances was that of Gwyneth Paltrow—Academy Award–winning actress and founder and CEO of goop— who headlined as celebrity guest at the Philippine Digital Convention (PH Digicon 2020) hosted by PLDT Enterprise on Day 1.

Talking about her business venture, how it started and the struggles along her business journey, Gwyneth also shared how she found a silver lining amidst this pandemic. Speaking to Cathy Yang, currently PLDT Inc’s communications strategist and advisor to PLDT’s Top Management Team, the CEO of goop told during the fireside chat interview that she is having a great time staying at home with her kids, cooking, and everything, while not being on a plane every time.

Paltrow, besides being an actress, best-selling cookbook author, and singer, is also the founder and CEO of goop—a lifestyle brand devoted to helping women make their own choices count. Goop is curious about what it means to self-optimize, about how we can gain autonomy over our health, and how we can push uncomfortable, important questions forward without shame.

With its roots in content across six key pillars: wellness, travel, food, beauty, style, and work, goop curates and sells a tightly edited array of products, plus its own product lines, including skincare, fragrances, apparel, bath and body, and supplements. Additionally, goop now has a podcast, a book imprint, permanent and pop-up retail experiences, a live event series, and an original series with Netflix, The goop Lab. The series, which premiered in January 2020 with six episodes, has been renewed for a second season.

Paltrow has always been comfortable pushing important conversations into the mainstream. Her presence at the upcoming PH Digicon 2020 may very well be a game-changer for those seeking inspiration and digital solutions given the current global health crisis.

Aside from Paltrow, Chairman and CEO of PLDT Group Manny V. Pangilinan took the stage for the first keynote speech and appeared side-by-side with Chuck Robbins, Chairman and CEO of Cisco Systems, Inc.

The two gentlemen acknowledged the plight of organizations and its employees during the pandemic and how it affected most of the lifestyles and work-related habits that are crucial in the growth of a company.

Cisco plays as a major presenter at PLDT Enterprise’s Philippine Digital Convention 2020 which will be held between October 28 to October 30, 2020. Cisco will also will be represented at PH Digicon by Sanjay Kaul, President, Service Provider, Asia-Pacific & Japan.

Mr. Kaul is a highly respected industry leader and ICT professional with over 25 years of experience in multi-national environments across Europe, Asia Pacific, Japan, and Africa. Prior to joining Cisco, he was the EVP and CU head of Ericsson, before assuming the Managing Director of Cisco Systems India and South Asia role. He has also worked with BT Group and Telia Swedtel. 

He is set to talk on the second day of PH Digicon 2020 about Reimagining Possible: Towards Resilient Digital Enterprises —a look at the Cisco partnership with PLDT and how Enterprises in the Philippines will benefit from the modern network being built.

Mr. Kaul has provided strategic advice to telecommunication companies on topics such as Mobile, Wireline, Broadcasting, Web, Media Players, and ISPs. During his tenure as a Management Consultant, Mr. Kaul has advised policymakers on various strategic, technology, and operational issues.

He founded and is President of Mridu Kaul Foundation (MKF) Angel Home & Academy, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving orphans, destitute, and abandoned children. A graduate of the National Institute of Technology and Harvard Business School, Mr. Kaul authored the book “Business Models for Sustainable Telecoms Growth” which was published by Wiley’s.

Carrying the theme, “IMPACT”, this year’s PH Digicon aims to inspire attendees to embrace the call of making a positive impact on society through the adoption of innovations and technologies set to define the new future of work.

The fully virtual PH Digicon 2020 will be hosted and moderated by PLDT FVP & Head of Group Corporate Communications Cathy Yang. The event is free and open to all across the Asia Pacific region and serves as a venue for global digital thought leaders, mavens, and pioneers who will come together to discuss technological solutions in their respective regions.
