This year, Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPT South), a unit of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the toll road development arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), was able to cater to its host communities along the alignment of Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) and Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX)  with over 5,000 beneficiaries including residents, students, drivers, and even pets, through its different community programs conducted this 2022.

As a result of all the hard work and kind heart shared by its pool of volunteer employees during the year-long initiatives, the toll road company successfully executed seven community programs and activities such as relief operations and donations; ‘Drayberks’ road safety seminar; launching of Bayani ng Kalsada “Bayani Ka” Activity Book and the child safety caravan, “Alagang MPT South” Medical Mission, Love Pets Save Lives program, and “Paskong Saya Handog ng MPT South” gift giving activity.

Community welfare programs

MPT South has been constantly extending assistance and providing aid specially to those areas hit by different calamities. This year, a total of 3,000 relief packs were donated to seven communities in Paranaque, Cavite, and Laguna who were razed by fire incidents and hit by severe tropical storm Paeng that crossed the province of Cavite. A total of 932 children and adult residents of Barangay Aplaya, Kawit, Cavite; Barangay 183, Pasay City; and Barangay Tibig, Silang, Cavite availed of free medical consultations and vitamins from the series of “Alagang MPT South Medical Mission” activities.

Road safety seminars

Aside from providing a helping hand to these communities, the toll road company continues to educate motorists and pedestrians on road safety and explain to them how they can take advantage of the safety practices on the expressway. 474 drivers underwent the award-winning ‘Drayberks’ seminar and instilled road safety awareness to 160 children through an interactive and comic inspired Bayani ng Kalsada or “Bayani Ka” activity book and children’s safety caravan.

Brigada Eskwela 2022

With the return of face-to-face classes after two years of lockdowns, MPT South joined the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Brigada Eskwela 2022 and helped with cleaning, painting, and fixing of cabinets in classrooms of six public schools in Cavite and Laguna. Paints, painting materials, safety vests, cleaning materials, sanitation tower, and school supplies were also given to Alapan II Elementary School, Loma Elementary School, Digman Elementary School, Molino Elementary School, Emiliano Tria Tirona Memorial National Integrated High School, and Binakayan Elementary School.

Animal welfare program

The toll road company hits an incredible stroke of genius as it pioneered in animal welfare program to address cases of stray animals wandering along its expressway in a more sustainable and humane solution. This year, MPT South partnered with the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) and provided free spaying and neutering (kapon) to 863 pets (aspin and puspin) and conducted responsible pet ownership seminars to indigent pet owners in its communities through a “Love Pets, Save Lives” program.

“It is the first of its kind for an expressway developer to launch an animal welfare program,” said Ms. Anna Cabrera, Executive Director of PAWS.

Christmas gift-giving

Indeed, Christmas is about loving and caring. Through “Paskong Saya Handog ng MPT South”, the toll road company was able to bring smiles and hope to 300 disadvantaged children by providing them bags of Christmas gifts and goodies in communities of Silang, Cavite and Santa Rosa, Laguna.

“Mounting in these kinds of activities is our way of expressing our gratitude to communities our and stakeholders, especially those who reside near our expressways. We hope that through the programs we did for this year, we were able to give back to them and engage our employees in the constant care for our motorists and communities, equally important is these intitatives  bring us closer to reaching our sustainability goals for progress, people and planet,” said Ms. Arlette V. Capistrano, MPT South Spokesperson and Assistant Vice President for Communication and Stakeholder Management Division.

MPTC is the biggest tollway builder and operator in the Philippines. Aside from CAVITEX, CAVITEX C5 Link, and CALAX, MPTC also holds concession rights for North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), the NLEX Connector Road, and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) in Cebu.

Tinatayang higit sa 5,000 benepisyaryo sa host communities nito sa kahabaan ng Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) at Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), kabilang ang mga residente, estudyante, motorista, at maging ang mga alagang aso at pusa, ang natulungan ng Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPT South), isang subsidiary ng Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), ang toll road development arm ng Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC) sa iba’t ibang community programs na isinagawa nito ngayong 2022.

Bilang resulta ng pagsisikap at mabubuting kalooban na ipinagkaloob ng mga volunteer  employees mula sa toll road company, naging matagumpay ito sa paglunsad at pagsagawa sa pitong CSR activies at mga programa tulad ng relief operations at donations, ‘Drayberks’ road safety seminar, pagpakilala sa Bayani ng Kalsada “Bayani Ka” Activity Book at children’s road safety caravan, “Alagang MPT South” Medical Mission, Love Pets Save Lives program, at “Paskong Saya Handog ng MPT South” gift giving activity.

Ngayong taon, aabot sa 3,000 relief packs ang naipamahagi ng toll road company sa daan-daang pamilya sa Paranaque, Cavite, at Laguna, na naging biktima ng sunog at ng Bagyong Paeng na nag landfall sa probinsya ng Cavite. Bukod sa paghahatid tulong sa iba’t ibang komunidad, nagpapatuloy rin ang toll road company sa pagsulong ng road safety at pagpapakilala ng mga safety features ng expressway. 474 na mga drayber ang sumailalim sa award-winning ‘Drayberks’ road safety seminar. Ibinida rin ng toll road company sa 160 kabataan ang kaalaman sa road safety sa pamamagitan ng paglunsad sa Bayani ng Kalsada o “Bayani Ka” activity book, isang interactive at comic inspired na libro na tiyak na kagigiliwan ng mga ito.

Brigada Eskwela 2022

Sa pagbabalik eskwela ng mga estudyante makalipas ang dalawang taong lockdown, nakilahok ang MPT South sa Brigada Eskwela ng Department of Education (DepEd) at tumulong sa paglinis, pagpintura, pag-ayos ng mga estante sa loob ng silid aralan ng anim na public schools sa Cavite at Laguna. Namahagi rin ito ng mga pintura at gamit pampintura, safety vests, sanitation tower, at iba pang mga suplay pang eskuwela sa Alapan II Elementary School, Loma Elementary School, Digman Elementary School, Molino Elementary School, Emiliano Tria Tirona Memorial National Integrated High School, at Binakayan Elementary School.

Isa rin sa mga milestone ng MPT South ang paglulunsad sa isang makabagong paraan para lutasin ang problema ng mga pagala-galang hayop sa expressway. Nitong taon, katuwang ng toll road company ang Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) para sa programang tinawag na “Love Pets Save Lives” kung saan aabot sa 863 na alagang aso at pusa (aspin at puspin) ang naserbisyuhan ng libreng kapon. Nagsagawa rin ang PAWS ng libreng responsible pet ownership seminar sa mga indigent pet owners na naninirahan sa mga komunidad na malapit sa expressway.

Ang pagdiriwang ng Pasko ay tungkol sa pagmamahal at aruga. Sa pamamagitan ng “Paskong Saya Handog ng MPT South”, nakapagbigay ngiti at ng pag-asa ang toll road company sa 300 disadvantaged children sa pamamagitan ng pamimigay dito ng munting regalo at ilang mga goodies sa ilang komunidad sa Silang, Cavite at Santa Rosa, Laguna.

“Ang pag lunsad ng iba’t ibang community programs para tumugon sa mga pangangailangan ay aming paraan upang maipakita ang aming pasasalamat, buong puso po namin at ng aming volunteer employees na iaalay ang aming oras at kalinga para sa aming mga komunidad at motorista at kasing halaga po nito na aming unti-unting naabot ang aming mga sustainability goals for progress, people and planet ” ani Ms. Arlette V. Capistrano, MPT South Spokesperson and Assistant Vice President for Communications and Stakeholders Management Division.

Ang MPTC ay ang pinakamalaking tollway builder at operator sa bansa. Bukod sa CAVITEX, CAVITEX C5 Link, at CALAX, hawak rin ng MPTC ang concession rights para sa North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), the NLEX Connector Road, at the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) in Cebu.
