Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (Mapúa MCL), one of the most innovative colleges in Southern Luzon, has introduced a new two-year Associate Degree program on Aircraft Maintenance Technology (AMT) this academic year 2024-2025.
The AMT program is a comprehensive curriculum that combines essential technical courses with specialized, theoretical and practical aviation maintenance training. It is Certified by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) which qualifies graduates to earn an Aircraft Maintenance License in the Philippines.
Aircraft Maintenance Technology is a competitive field that has high earning potential, especially overseas. According to global job matching platform Indeed, aircraft maintenance technicians in the United States get an average of $62,795 a year.
Students who enroll in Mapúa MCL’s two-year AMT program are taught the intricacies and functionalities of aircraft components and systems such as turbine and piston engines, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, propellers, airframes, warning systems, and rigging so they can ensure the airworthiness of aircraft and more importantly, safe flights.
AMT students are trained by credentialed faculty who have extensive and up-to-date industry experience. Throughout the duration of comprehensive curriculum, Mapúa Malayans develop industry-relevant skills and knowledge that will enable them to perform high-quality inspections, repairs, and maintenance on aircrafts.
Students are required to complete 1900 hours (400 hours of general subjects plus 750 hours of airframe and 750 hours of powerplant) prescribed by the CAAP PART 3.4.3 during the program which are replete with hands-on technical work. Soon to rise also is the state-of-the-art Da Vinci building, which has been designed specifically to hold the trainings, maintenance practice and lecture sessions for Aviation programs.
