Lalamove, an on-demand delivery platform, has concluded its three-part series of Liga ng mga Bossing Basketball Tournament, which aims to recognize the efforts of its partner drivers nationwide while engaging them with community-building activities

The basketball tournament was launched to celebrate the efforts and achievements of the partner driver community in different locations from Cebu to Pampanga, and in its last leg in Metro Manila.

“Our goal really is to give our partner drivers an avenue to enjoy and celebrate their achievements and notable contributions to the community. We hope that the Liga ng mga Bossing Basketball Tournament has given them a positive spirit with their community as they continue their everyday biyahe on the road,” said Djon Nacario, Managing Director of Lalamove Philippines.

The last leg of Liga ng mga Bossing Basketball Tournament was held in Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong last September. The other legs were held in Cebu and Pampanga.

Heroes on the road and their community

The partner drivers who usually just greet each other on the road are now on the court, wearing their jerseys with their teammates as they prepare for the most-awaited basketball tournament of Lalamove.

According to Gerome Deleña, the team captain of Castrol LalaHooper, they have been waiting for engaging activities that would bring their community of partner drivers together.

“Matagal na talaga namin hinihintay ‘yung basketball tournament. Nakakatuwa kasi kaming mga partner drivers ng Lalamove sa iba’t ibang lugar, ‘yung iba galing pang Cavite at Laguna, nakalaro rin namin. Malaking tulong din ‘yung napalanunan namin as team,” Deleña said.

His team consisted of partner drivers Erickson Bayona, Jayson Delos Reyes, Arman Salazar, Jayson Javier, King Aranda, Mitch Caluza, Jayson Manahan, Jose Olan Jr., and Marwin Generalo. They won a P50,000 cash prize.

For Kirrby Santos, the team captain of Manila Ballers, he was grateful that they are being honored for their efforts as a partner driver and glad that they have an opportunity to take a break and bond with the community.

“Importante po talaga sa amin ‘yung na-aappreciate kami dahil lahat po kami ay nagsusumikap sa kalsada para sa amin at ng pamilya namin. Masaya rin po na may pa-liga kasama ang iba pang delivery riders dahil nakilala namin ang isa’t isa,” Santos said.

Manila Ballers is consisted of partner drivers Jerwin Corpin, Joenas Nogal, Regie Gadia, John Michael Pradia, Jester Asperas, Rickey Pareño, and Ricardo Ybañez Jr. Their team received a P10,000 cash prize.

In the three-part series of the basketball tournament, attendees received treats and freebies from sponsors including Prestone, Maxxis, Delkor, CST Tires, Castrol, Arisun Tires, Invested, Supermiler, Sting, Gatorade, Seaoil, Rejuviant, Oishi, Puregold, MemoXpress, and TNT.

As part of the celebration, Lalamove also awarded the Top Drivers from Cebu, Pampanga, and Metro Manila, who had an excellent performance from April to June this year.

“Our way of celebrating and providing support to our partner drivers does not end here. They can expect more exciting initiatives as the holiday season approaches. Meanwhile, they are continuously supported by our Panalomove Benefits Program, from fuel discounts, vehicle maintenance, and health insurance,” Nacario added.
