COVID-19 changed everything. This deadly virus that killed almost a million people worldwide changed the way we live, the way we work, the way we communicate, and more. While some countries are now back to their normal lives, the Philippines is barely starting to come up with solutions about how we can cope with this pandemic.

For instance, The Department of Education had announced that this school year, distance or online learning will be manifested. So, parents and schools had to expedite and re-do all the systems just so they can keep up with the requirements.

Truth is, because of this pandemic, a lot of people, especially, parents, have lost their jobs. Therefore, not everyone can homeschool nor buy gadgets for online learning.

We are bombarded with such bad news daily, so we, at Metropoler.net, would like to share with you this feature-worthy story shared by a Netizen.

No computer, no internet? No problem! According to Peter, he saw this kid about 8:30 pm at a computer shop in front of his house. He thought the kid was just going to play games. Little did he know, this kid was filling out an enrolment form.

He also noticed that the kid was having a hard time putting in the information, so he stepped in and offered his help. He said in vernacular: “At nahihirapan siya mag fill up ng form. English with Tagalig translation naman. Malapit na maubos yung time kaya binigyan ko ng 4 pesos at tinulungan ko na mag fill-up.”

(The kid looked like he’s having a hard time filling out the form, so I helped. His time is almost up so I gave 5 pesos so he can continue).

Peter also mentioned in his post that based on the kid’s information given, the kid has no:

* No Budget for Internet and Data Allowance
* No Mobile Phone, PC or Tablet
* Parents are at home with no Work due to Quarantine.
* Grade 7

As of this writing, Peter’s post has gone viral and has gained 130,000 reactions, 813 comments, and 67,000 shares.

DZMM, picked up the story as well, and was interviewed by Bernadette Sembrano. According to the interview, the kid’s name is Jonel. We weren’t able to get his last name, though.

Since the post has gone viral and spread our NewsFeed with such good vibes, people pitched in for Jonel’s needs for school learning.

Truly, Filipinos are resilient and resourceful. We don’t think twice about helping others, too.

To Peter, thank you so much for sharing this wonderful story online. Our faith in humanity was restored. To the kid, Jonel, keep up the good work, study hard, and stay resilient. Kids, nowadays, must learn the importance of education and eagerness to attain it, and you just should how it’s done!
