IT’S all system go for the UKC and VSP “Reboot 2021: Dawn of a New Beginning” boxing promotions on February 13 at the Mega Mart in Paniqui, Tarlac.
The five -match card featuring SEA Games champion and Olympian Charly Suarez has passed all the required ‘safety and health’ protocol under close supervision by the Games and Amusements Board (GAB).
Two weeks ago, representatives of GAB’s Boxing and other Contact Sports Division meet the officials of Ultimate Knock-Out Challenge (UKC) and VSP boxing promotions to discuss the health and safety protocols which strictly imposed for holding professional boxing events during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We understand that mounting of a pro boxing event is expensive at this time because we need to follow all the government-mandated quarantine and testing protocols. That is why we want to commend our boxing promoters for their dedication to push for this much-awaited event and for allowing our professional fighters to sustain their livelihood despite all these challenges,” said GAB Chairman Abraham ‘Baham’ Mitra.
All participating fighters, staff and officials are currently billeted at Villa Soccoro, Poblacion Norte, Paniqui, Tarlac as part of the pre-tournament and quarantine protocols.
The main event will feature the former bemedalled amateur and King Warrior Stable’s fighter Suarez who will fight against pro veteran Jon Jon Estrada of San Andres, Quezon for the Super Featherweight match. Estrada sporting a pro boxing record of 11 wins, including 10 KOs against 7 lost, and 1 draw.
Alphoe Dagayloan, who fought against Carlo Penalosa last year at Elorde Sports Complex, will try to capture the elusive Vacant Philippine Flyweight Championship against flyweight prospect Ben Ligas of Elorde Pegasus.
Reboot 2021 will also feature other prospective boxing matches: Ranelio Quizo of Elorde Southbox against Andrew Laurio of Hardstone Monis for Super Flyweight Division; Lorenz Ladrada of VSP Boxing Stable will try to bring the vacant Featherweight against Remon Basas of Olivetti Boxing Gym; and Ali Canega of Marty Elorde Stable will fight against Glenn Bismanos of El Tigre Boxing Gym for the Super Lightweight Division.
