‘Fuck the Grammys’ trends on Twitter as Zayn Malik throws shade at the award-giving body’s “need for inclusion and the lack of transparency of the nomination process”

Zayn Malik ‘s 5-day old tweet garnered a mix of audience reactions after posting on Twitter his dismay at Grammy Awards 2021 for “the need for inclusion and the lack of transparency of the nomination process.” His sentiment did not go unnoticed. His spontaneous tweets earned praises from minority but were also met with disapproval and rebuke from different sectors of the music industry.

Zayn clarifies that his tweet wasn’t meant to be personal but rather about the flaws in the nomination process “and the space that creates and allows favoritism, racism, and networking politics to influence the voting process.”

Zayn also tagged @recordingacad during the awards night repeating his statement on transparency and inclusion before ending the tweet with the hashtag #fuckthegrammys.

The tweet came in minutes after super K-pop BTS lost their bid to win Best Pop Group Performance for the song “Dynamite.”
