FedEx Express launches new flights from Clark, Philippines; boosts e-commerce businesses

FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, is bolstering its network with the launch of eight new flights from the Philippines Gateway to cater to the rising demand in intra-Asia trade. With these new flights, Philippine exporters and importers will have access to 56 weekly flights coming in and out of Clark. It also enables a one-day transit time improvement from South Korea to the Philippines, providing an excellent opportunity for local importers.

“The new flights coming directly to Clark will be a gamechanger for local businesses, especially e-commerce traders. These key Asian destinations – Japan, Singapore, and South Korea – are some of the top export destinations for the Philippines[1].  As global economies begin to recover, the Clark Gateway opens up opportunities for Philippine players, particularly small and medium sized enterprises,” said Ranny Chua, Acting Managing Director, FedEx Express Philippines. “As the network for what’s next, we are continually optimizing our lanes and providing efficient cross-border logistics solutions to meet the  needs of our customers,” continued Chua.

These flights are the latest addition to the company’s robust network that will enable FedEx to expand its airfreight capacity by over 700,000 pounds per week and provide its customers with direct connectivity between North Pacific and Southeast Asian markets.

For this lane, FedEx is using fuel-efficient Boeing 767 freighters and will operate four days a week with two loops – the Northern & Southern Loop. The Northern Loop connects Osaka, Japan and Incheon, South Korea to the Clark Gateway four times a week. With the Southern Loop, in addition to the existing flights to China, FedEx has added stops in Singapore four times a week, connecting the city-state directly to Clark.

FedEx also recently announced a new route between Asia and Europe, improving connectivity and service reliability for customers across North Asia including China and Japan. This route also provides one day a week direct connection between FedEx Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Hub to Singapore.

FedEx Express remains committed to helping local businesses of all sizes by maintaining network strength and agility. This drive ensures business continuity for FedEx customers as they pursue recovery.
