From UK to America; to Southeast Asia and with the rest of the world where Dr. Martens have been popularly known since the 1960s – the collab that every DOCS lovers are waiting has finally landed.
This month’s edition takes Dr. Martens’ punk and grunge heritage, as shown in each of the [email protected] bears that comes along with the collection series.
Dr. Martens has teamed up with MEDICOM TOY. As one of streetwears unmistakable icons, their tiny [email protected] bears have spanned art, design, fashion and modern subculture. They’ve taken over the planet. And now they’re taking over our 1460 boot. “In this collaboration, we’re not just reworking our historic silhouette. As we look back on DM’s six-decade heritage, we’ve extended this groundbreaking collaboration to include six [email protected] bears — one for each different decade of DM’s.”
The limited edition 1460 boot is not just a one-off. It’s a first. Co-designed by the creators of the MEDICOM TOY label, it’s one of their only non-figurine collaborations. And they’ve made a hell of an impression. A completely debossed upper and ‘@’ stamp on the side is both subtle — yet instantly recognizable to MEDICOM TOY heads. Nodding to the brand’s signature [email protected], the boot has been crafted with a fleece lining and fluffy laces — included in both red and blue. Their instantly recognizable logo is stamped on a branded debossed upper — framed by Dr. Martens standout DNA.
Initially offered at around $220, the 1460 BRBK Remastered Collection has a debossed upper and branded lace charm that complements the punky look of the boot in color black smooth leather. It also comes with a blue and red shoe laces that you can mix match when you wear this boot.
Currently, the 1460 boot model is OUT OF STOCK but many have luckily ordered first online and some are still trying to add it to their wish list the 1460 BRBK Boot and hoping it would come back soon in the shopping cart. Honestly, the tease for this boot has too much hype but that’s Dr. Martens. There are those who came in early and bought pairs are reselling them for up to $1,750 on eBay! That is around P80,000 in Philippine Peso, and it don’t come with any of the toys. And there are those entrepreneurs who are selling these pairs for around $320 – a big cash-in profit, if you’ll ask.
But that’s how it goes. Hype or no hype, anything that this boot company offers will sure to have a waiting customers falling in line to get the first dibs of the new collection. Even if it cost them one part of their kidneys!
“Our limited edition 1460 BRBK boot is not just a one-off. It’s a first. Co-designed by the creators of the MEDICOM TOY label, it’s one of a few times they’ve strayed from their usual bear shaped canvas. And they’ve made a hell of an impression. A completely debossed upper and ‘@’ stamp on the side is both subtle — yet instantly recognizable to MEDICOM TOY heads.
Along with our boot, we’ve also created six bespoke MEDICOM TOY bears* — taking cues from our wearers in each decade. Kicking off with our 60s MEDICOM TOY. Where DM’s began, it’s complete with a buzzcut and ska music on loop. The 70s bear is no-nonsense punk — loud, brash and ready to challenge the norm. The 80s goth bear is all leather, lace and fishnets, while the 90s bear sports flannel, Docs and a grungy, unwashed attitude. The vibrant Kawaii movement inspires the colourful 00s bear, and the 10s bear likes plaid, rocks a beard, and isn’t scared to take on outdated social norms. Together, they’re a tribute to the alternative subcultures that have made us the brand we are today,” said the boot product on their website.
And yes, the six MEDICOM TOYS – six bespoke [email protected] bears, are sold separately.
