THE Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) yesterday announced a 10-day lockdown on its offices and facilities in Manila and Pasig City due to the rising COVID-19 cases on its employees.

One senior employee in the Engineering Division based at the PhilSports Arena was reportedly died due to complication caused by the virus.

The lockdown will take effect on Tuesday (April 13) as both the administrative offices at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila and the Philsports Complex in Pasig will be under confinement for disinfection and cleansing.

Early last year, the Ninoy Aquino Stadium and the Rizal Memorial Basketball Center – both located inside the RMSC – was transformed to COVID-19 quarantine facilities.

Record from the medical division of the agency claimed 63 active cases this month, with 91 currently under quarantine after identified to have a close contact to the COVID-19 patients.  Last month, the PSC reported 18 active cases.

PSC Executive Director Atty. Guillermo Iroy Jr. said the PSC’s office operations shall shift to work-from-home arrangements to ensure that delivery of service remains unhampered.
