Comelec to stop voters’ registration in NCR amidst ECQ

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will temporarily stop the voters’ registration in NCR after placing it under Enhance Community Quarantine (ECQ) from August 6 to 20.

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez announced yesterday that it will only resume once the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases (IATF) will release an order.

Needless to say, the Comelec strives continuously to register more eligible citizens, but at this perilous juncture, the top priority should be the safety and health of the electorate,” Jimenez said.

In addition, he added that Comelec has exceeded its four million target voters in Metro Manila for the General election 2022.

The voters’ registration will end on September 30 across the country, but there is still no further notice that it will extend to the areas that affected by ECQ.
