CHANCES to meet and play heads up with the country’s topnotch poker players and earn millions are up for grabs as the P20 million guaranteed Asian Poker Championship main draw deals on June 6-12  at the Metro Card Club in Metrowalk, Pasig City.

Marc Rivera, a member of the organizing MCC and considered one of the most successful Filipino poker players in the country, announced the holding of the long -awaited APC tournament as part of the group’s program to embrace poker as a mind game sports and give local players the opportunity to achieve prestigious honors and prizes that will surely change their lives.

“We’re inviting our local poker enthusiasts, those regular MCC players to join the Championship. This is your chance to further level up your skills and at the same time take the challenge of winning the million prizes, ”Rivera said, during the Tabloids Organization in Philippine Sports, Inc. (TOPS) ‘Usapang Sports’ on Thursday via Zoom.

MCC GM Mylene Advincula

Mylene Advincula, MCC General Manager, stressed that the MCC is ready for a big tournament like the APC, as well as on the implementation of the ‘safety and health’ protocol based on the order of the Pasig local government and the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF),

“It is not new for us to host big international tournaments like this. Our staff and personnel are all trained under all circumstances and when it comes to the safety of the players, ever since we returned to face-to-face we have been really strict on protocol for the  safety  of the players, ”said Advincula at the weekly sports forum sponsored by Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Games and Amusements Board (GAB) and PAGCOR.

“We do required pre-vaccination for players and guests, aside from that safety precaution, we put up wash up area and we provided alcohol to every player at the table. And of course  face mask is mandatory and required before you enter the game area.  Those were the few things we do at MCC, ”said Advincula.

Rivera admitted that it is hard and it take sacrifices to promote a big tournament like this, but as a poker player as well, it comes with the courage and confidence just to overcome all challenges.

“We need 500 players para walang problema sa guaranteed pot prize. But kung hindi maabot, yun ang isa sa responsibilidad ng host na grupo ni Mylene yung mag-abono,” said Rivera in jest.

But with the partnership with the Korean Mind Game Members (KMGM), Rivera said at least 300 Korean players are coming over to join the tournament set  to start on June 6, Sunday at 6pm.

“Sa Korea kasi, unlike sa atin, bawal  ang cash game. Kaya ang ating mga kaibigan sa Korea ay nagbuo ng grupo at nagho-host ng mga tournament kung saan ang premyo ay tiket para makalaro sa tournament natin sa APC,” said Rivera.

Rivera added that some of the local poker star who vie for the prize and honor are APC reigning champion Noel ‘The Kid’ Araniel; former billiard player and first Pinoy to win an WSOP bracelet Mike Takayama, Lester Edoc, Jojo Tech and similarly talented and skillful members of the Metro Pro Team.

“We’re calling all poker players to come at Metro Club and join the tournament. Sa mga gustong pa lang matuto we offered group game and free ang tutorial, “ added  Advincula.
