ALL-Pinoy TNC Predator beat OB Esports x Neon in a heart-stopping rematch to claim the 2020/2021 Asia-Pacific Predator League’s Dota 2 championship on Sunday.
After relegating in the lower bracket, TNC Predator come back and avenged its semifinal defeat against OB.Neon, dominating their best-of-three title duel.
TNC takes Game 1 with a 30-11 kills, led by Armel Paul “Armel” Tabios on Invoker with nine kills with one death while Kim “Gabbi” Villafuerte made seven clean kills.
In Game 2, TBC Predator needs only 29 minutes to subdue OB.Neon, with Gabbi’s Queen of Pain notched 20 kills against two deaths.
The win was TNC’s second Asia-Pacific Predator League title since February 2019. OB.Neon take runner-up honor and the US$25,000.
TNC and OB.Neon arranged a semifinals duel after demolishing their respective rivals in the tournament’s double-round elimination playoff.
OB.Neon defeated TNC to send them down to the lower bracket and make it to the finals by beating BOOM Esports in the next round.
In the lower bracket, TNC rebounded with victories against Galaxy Racer, Reckoning Esports, at BOOM Esports to force a rematch with OB.Neon for the best-of-three grand finals.
The win was the first championship for TNC’s new all-Filipino roster with new members Jun ‘Bok’ Kanahera from Omega Esports and Marvin ‘Boomy’ Ruston who replaced Australian Damien ‘Kpii’ Chok and South Korean Kim ‘Febby’ Yong-im.
