BARCELONA, Spain — A history-making all-female MMA event will take on October 10 at the Complex Esportiu Marina Besós in Barcelona marking the return of Spain’s largest mixed martial arts promotion AFL – proving ground for current UFC stars Joel Alvarez, Juan Espino, Manuel Kape and many others.

AFL VALKYRIES, named after the female Gods of War in Norse Mythology, will be the first major all-female MMA event in Europe and will be the first MMA event in Spain since the Covid-19 pandemic struck the world and put a halt to live sports.

The main event will see a vacant strawweight title fight between Dana White Contender Series veteran & international model Micol di Segni (7-3) and French veteran Audrey ‘AK47’ Kerouche (7-5) and a co-main event between rising Brazilian star Emily Motta (2-0) and Spain’s Rita Marrero (2-2-2) for the vacant atomweight title.

Italy’s Micol di Segni comes into this fight following a decision loss to Mallory Martin on Dana White’s Contender Series towards the end of last year.

The 32-year-old is a regular at the renowned Jackson Wink gym in USA, home to Jon Jones, Holly Holmes & many other stars, and so far is the only person to hold a win over current UFC fighter Cory McKenna. She is also known internationally as Eden Von Hell and is a ‘Suicide Girls’ model with over 100k followers on Instagram.

No doubt di Segni has her sights on getting to the UFC starting with a title win at AFL VALKYRIES. However, her opponent is French submission fighter Audrey Kerouche. This seven-year veteran of the sport is on a 3-1 run and will be aiming to score the biggest win of her career.

In the co-main event we have a battle of two Spanish MMA favourites. The undefeated Emily “Guerreira” Mota is from Brazil but is based locally in Barcelona and has a lot of hype around her following her two impressive wins since turning pro in 2019.

Motta though will face the much-loved Rita Marrero from the Canary Islands. Marrero has proven to be a handful for all of her opponents and is extremely motivated for the opportunity to become an AFL champion.

The full fight card for AFL VALKYRIES will be confirmed next week. A limited number of tickets have been issued and can be purchased from Eventbrite.com and the event can be watched around the world on FITE.tv.
