While many of us are arguing and discussing whether to okay or junk the Anti-Terror Bill, a firefight gun battle took place in Patikul, Sulu killing four government soldiers and injuring seventeen others during a fierce clash with suspected Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG), the military said this Saturday, June 6.

Western Mindanao Command (WesMinCom) spokesman Maj. Arvin John Encinas said the gun battle also resulted in the killing of two suspected ASG members. Encinas said the firefight erupted at around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, June 5, while troops from the 6th Special Forces Battalion were conducting a combat operation in Sitio Lagaron in Barangay Kan-ague.

The heroic government soldiers clashed with more or less 40 armed ASG. “The firefight lasted for about 40 minutes and the enemy scampered toward the southeast direction,” said Encinas in a text message.
