THE country’s long-running and prestigious cockfighting (sabong)—PINTAKASI event — goes international as the Roligon Mega Cockpit Arena in Paranaque City is set to host the 1st Roligon PINTAKASI International Challenge in February next year.
Hosted by Rolando ‘Ka Lando’ S. Luzong and Nick Crisostomo, and sponsored byThunderbird, the 12-cock International Gamefowl Breeders Derby (The Bloodline Challenge) is slated for February 18 (Saturday) for a 3-cock Group A eliminations. Group B and C eliminations followed on February 20 and 21.
The 4-cock semifinals are set for February 22 (Group A), February 23 (B), and February 24 (C). The first 40 entries with 4, 4.5, or 5 points will clash for the 5-cock pre-finals on February 25, while the rest of the entries with similar accumulated points take centerstage on February 27 (Monday).
All entries with 5.5, 6, 6.5, and 7 points after the pre-finals will clash in the 5-cock Finals for the championship where a Galo Meliton trophy – in honor of the late Sabong Magazine publisher and known ‘Father of Cockfight Derby’ in the country — will be given. The name of Pintakasi Champion will also be etched in a Perpetual Trophy which will be installed permanently in the Roligon Mega Arena lobby.
“This is first of its kind event at the historic Roligon Mega Cockpit wherein the first P3M, P4M, P6.5M, P8.8M, and P10M derby promotions took place. These daring promotions led by Rolly Ligon showed the way how marathon cockfighting tournaments should be held that served as models for breeders’ federation derbies staged later on,” said Luzong.
Local and foreign participants and guests to Pintakasi also get the chance to attend the 2023 International Gamefowl Festival and Hobby Expo at the SMX Convention Centre in Pasay City featuring the biggest and the most exciting Gamefowl Show, Hobby Expo & Pet Convention.
The IGF 2023 Hobby Expo & Pet Convention will present the leading gamefowl breeders, pigeon raisers, exotic animal and pet hobbyists, veterinary and nutrition suppliers, gamefowl suppliers, pigeon suppliers, pigeon fanciers, incubators, feed manufacturers, and related products and services catering to gamefowl, pigeon raising, exotic animals and pet hobbyist.
Dubbed “The Bloodline Challenge”, the event is sanctioned by the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) and supported by VDM 68 (Vince, David, and Marc) of Vietnam, Chinh Piseth & the Cambodia Association of Gamefowl Preservation, Miguel Arizola of Peru, Ely Andresio of Texas, USA, American Team Composed of USA’s top gamefowl breeders, Gusko Adyana of Indonesia, Byron Espinoza of Ecuador and Kelly Everly of Kentucky, USA.
