The Games and Amusements Board (GAB) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) renewed its partnership and commitment to combat illegal gambling in professional sports and amusement games through a groundbreaking Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).

The signing ceremony took place last June 20 at the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Crame, marking a significant step towards ensuring a fair and transparent sports and gaming industry in the Philippines.

Under the established partnership, the PNP will assign dedicated personnel to the GAB-Anti Illegal Gambling Unit (AIGU) upon request. These highly skilled individuals, representing various units of the PNP across the country, will collaborate with GAB to conduct surveillance, investigations, and apprehensions related to anti-illegal gambling operations. Additionally, the PNP’s Anti-Cybercrime Group, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), and other investigative units will work closely with GAB-AIGU to identify, build cases against, and apprehend illegal gambling operators exploiting electronic or online platforms.

“With our limited manpower and lack of experience in law enforcement, we truly need the expertise and assistance of our police force, and that is why we are fortunate that our Chief PNP is very supportive of GAB’s advocacy. As Chairman of the GAB-AIGU, we will ensure that we at least reduce these illegal gambling activities for the sake of our youth and fellow citizens,” said GAB Chairman Atty. Richard S. Clarin.

PNP Chief Benjamin Acorda, Jr. affirmed the unwavering commitment of the PNP to this partnership, emphasizing its deep-rooted connection to their mission of Serbisyong Nagkakaisa.

He stated, “As we commemorate this auspicious gathering, let us emphasize the PNP’s dedication to collaborating with GAB. Together, we will combat illegal gambling and promote a society founded on fairness, transparency, and the rule of law.”

The GAB and PNP called upon all government agencies, stakeholders, including the public, gaming operators, and community leaders, to unite in supporting their efforts to eradicate illegal gambling in the Philippines. By promptly reporting any suspicious activities and cooperating with law enforcement agencies, individuals can contribute to creating a safer and more prosperous society for all.

This partnership between GAB and PNP reflects a unified pursuit of justice and the preservation of the integrity of professional sports and amusement games. By upholding the principles of fairness, transparency, and the rule of law, the GAB and PNP aim to establish a thriving gaming industry that instills trust and confidence among all stakeholders.
